On 19 August, we found a tiny injured kitten on the street and rushed her to the vet. Her femur was broken and the bone had pushed into her muscle, causing her terrible pain. She was so weak that she couldn’t be operated on straight away, and there was a real chance she would lose her leg. Once her haematocrit (red blood cell level) rose high enough, she had orthopaedic surgery to repair the bone, which was completely shattered. It was a very difficult operation, and there was no way of knowing whether it would succeed. For the first few days she couldn’t move her leg at all. We decided to bring her home, where she did her physiotherapy every day. From her very first day at home she began to improve, and it soon became clear that the surgery had been a success. We named her Amelie, because she is the sweetest kitten: playful, affectionate, and now able to walk, run and jump. 🐾 When we found her, she was 3 months old. Now she is 5 months old and has already had her first vaccination and flea treatment. The pin in her leg has now been removed and she is fully recovered. Amelie is now looking for a loving family who will keep her indoors and give her lots of love. She’s also friendly with other cats. She has been sharing a space with another kitten, and the two of them play together all the time.
