Looking for a home or long foster for Axel

Axel is only 6 months old, and he has spent almost all of his puppyhood in a municipal shelter — in a tiny cage, on cold tiles. He is a unique mix of Dachshund and Labrador. Because of this combination, his legs developed a bit differently than those of typical puppies, and life in the cage only made things worse. His legs didn’t grow the way they should, his muscles didn’t strengthen — he just lay on the tiles with no chance to move properly. But despite everything, he feels good: he runs, plays, and truly enjoys every new day. Right now, he just shouldn’t jump, run on slippery floors, or put too much pressure on his legs while he’s still growing. One of our volunteers took him into foster care, because if he stayed in the cage any longer, his legs could have been damaged even more. When he grows up, he might need some treatments or even surgery, but at the moment all he needs is peace, a soft surface to lie on, and a little care. He is currently in a foster home, but unfortunately, his foster family works outside the house, and Axel stays alone for up to 9 hours a day. Sometimes someone can stop by to check on him, but for such a young puppy, it’s much better to grow up alongside someone who can be with him more often — in a warm, calm, and safe place. Axel already knows how to do his business outside, but he’s still a baby and can’t always hold it — so he needs to be taken out a bit more often or have puppy pads available at home. He weighs 8 kg and will grow just a little more — only about 1–2 centimeters. He loves chewing on cardboard boxes he’s given, but he hasn’t damaged any furniture — he’s a very well-behaved boy as long as he has toys. He loves being petted, especially when someone scratches his belly. He gets tired quickly on walks and isn’t ready for long runs yet — he needs to grow slowly, without pain and without cages. If you want to give Axel a home or are ready to take him on a long-term foster until he finds his family — please write to us. He truly deserves for his story to continue in love ❤️
